Dance theater alumni reunite



The event will raise money for the company and a dinner theater.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Alumni of Archangel Dance Theater who are making names for themselves in the professional world of performing arts will participate in a reunion performance planned for 8 p.m. Saturday at Youngstown Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane.
"An Evening of Dance" will be presented by Karen Clark-Green, director, and current participants of Archangel Dance Theater, along with the following alumni. The choreography of Jessica Oliver and Joshua Green will be featured.
UJared Andrews was the amateur champion on "Live in Hollywood," a new series to be televised this fall. He has been in the opening acts for The Roots and Wyclef Jean. He is a member of the group Venture with his brother Justin Andrews.
UTimothy Gordon is teaching tap and hip hop in the New York area. He recently danced at the Brit Awards in London and also has danced for Alicia Keys and Missy Elliott. Gordon also danced at the Essence Awards in 1999 and in music videos by Anastasia, Beverly Knight and Wyclef Jean.
UChrista Oliver is touring with Transition Dance Company of Deptford, London, and is a member of Archangel touring company. She attended the University of Akron, where she received the Black Excellence Award and Freshman of the Year Dance Award. As a sophomore she was selected for Transition, which is based at LABAN, one of the world's leading conservatories for contemporary-dance artist training. Oliver was featured in a story in the United Kingdom's Pride Magazine.
UMichael Green Jr. is working with MC Lyte and Yukmouth and has worked with Junior Mafia, Bernard Wright, Anointed, Pieces of a Dream and Jeff Lorber. Green is a graduate of The Recording Workshop in Chillicothe and has certification as an engineer. He has worked with such labels as Sony, Aftermath, Atlantic and Rapalot. He is in the group Venus.
UTheresa and Cheryl Black-shear are voice and dance participants working on their own music.
UAnthony Echols, a member of the Archangel touring company, has released a CD.
USam Pete, a member of Archangel touring company, has developed his own theater company in Cincinnati.
UBrian Palumbo operates Top Hat Productions, a local theater production company.
The event also is serving as a fund-raiser for Archangel to continue its mission as a professional dance company in the Mahoning Valley. Funds also will help Clark-Green present "Nativity," a dinner theater.
