Driver arraigned in Mill Creek crash deaths
YOUNGSTOWN -- Christiaen A. Lively, 18, of Parkwood Avenue turned himself in at the Mahoning County jail around 8:30 a.m. today to be booked on three counts of vehicular manslaughter, misdemeanors.
He was accompanied by his Youngstown attorney, Jeff Kurz. Lively was later arraigned in municipal court via video. Atty. Kurz entered innocent pleas on his behalf, and Judge Robert P. Milich allowed Lively to go free on his own recognizance.
A pretrial hearing was set for Sept. 8 with Judge Elizabeth A. Kobly presiding. Judge Kobly heard the preliminary hearing when the case involved felony charges, which were later rejected by a Mahoning County grand jury.
Judge Kobly said if the lawyers involved have issues with her presiding over the case, they can file a motion asking that she recuse herself and that she would consider such a motion.
Lively is accused of failure to control his car in Mill Creek Park on March 27, causing the death of three teenage passengers.
