BEATLES Abbey Road event relives the 1960s

Tribute bands will play to honor the Beatles' achievements.
CLEVELAND -- Beatles fans and tribute bands from all over the world will come together next Thursday through Aug. 8 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Fab Four's first North American tour.
The event, Abbey Road On the River, is a Beatles immersion experience that promises a trip back in time to the tumultuous '60s.
In 1964, the world was on the cusp of a musical revolution as the Beatles' first U.S. album, "Meet the Beatles," topped the charts. The group appeared on the "Ed Sullivan Show" that year, and launched its first North American tour, hitting 23 cities, including Cleveland's Public Auditorium on Sept. 15.
Abbey Road On the River honors that historic event, as the world's best tribute bands will play for three days on the same stage that hosted John, Paul, George and Ringo 40 years ago. Outdoor events will be held at the adjacent Mall B.
Tickets and information are available at abbeyroadontheriver.com. Ticketmaster also has tickets. Prices range from $9 for a one-day lawn ticket that covers access to concerts on outdoor stages, to $59.64 for a three-day admission ticket that includes a reserved seat for Public Auditorium headline events.
