Notes: Sorenstam won the LPGA Championship in June for her seventh major victory. She has four LPGA Tour victories this year to push her career total to 52. ... The tournament became an official LPGA Tour event in 1994 and was elevated to major status in 2001, replacing the du Maurier. ... Karrie Webb won in 1995, 1997 and 2002, setting tournament records in 1997 at Sunningdale with a 19-under 269 total and eight-stroke margin. ... Sherri Steinhauer won the 1998 and 1999 titles. ... The 2005 tournament will be played at Royal Birkdale. ... The tour will be in Ohio the next two weeks for the Jamie Farr Classic in Sylvania and Wendy's Championship in Dublin.

Notes: St. Louis-area resident Hale Irwin has seven major victories on the Champions Tour, one off Jack Nicklaus' senior record. The three-time U.S. Open winner has two victories this year -- including the Senior PGA Championship -- to push his Champions Tour-record total to 40. ... Gary Player won the 1965 U.S. Open on the Robert Trent Jones-designed Bellerive course, the longest layout in U.S. Senior Open history. Nick Price also won the 1992 PGA at Bellerive. ... The 2005 tournament will be played at the NCR Country Club in Dayton, Ohio, and the 2006 event is set for Prairie Dunes in Hutchinson, Kan. ... The 3M Championship is next week in Blaine, Minn.
