NEW YORK-PENN LEAGUE Scrappers drop fifth straight to Batavia, 1-0

Mahoning Valley managed just four hits against the Muckdogs.
BATAVIA, N.Y. -- A two-out solo home run by Carl Galloway in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Batavia Muckdogs a 1-0 victory Tuesday over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in a Class A baseball game at Dwyer stadium.
In the fastest game of the season for the Scrappers (1 hour, 45 minutes), their bats were silenced, being held to four hits by Muckdogs pitchers Joseph Bisenius and Kyle Allen.
Bisenius worked the first six inning, scattered three hits and struck out five.
Allen (1-1) allowed only one hit through the final three innings and struck out three to pick up the win.
Scrappers starter Aaron Laffey pitched six innings, gave up only four hits and struck out one batter.
Roger Lincoln (2-3) gave up the homer to Galloway, but allowed only one other hit and struck out three in taking the loss.
Fall to third place
The Scrappers fell below .500 (19-20) in dropping to third place in the New York-Penn League Pinckney Division standings.
Batavia swept the two-game home series from the Scrappers and won its fifth in a row over the Scrappers. In doing so, the Muckdogs moved into second place, evening their record at 19-19.
The Scrappers' Anthony Reyes led off the top of the ninth inning beating out an infield single.
Marshall Szabo lined out to the Batavia first baseman, who stepped on first for a double play and Wyatt Toregas struck out to end the game.
The only extra base hit by the Scrappers was a double by Christopher Gimenez.
The Scrappers have today off, then host New Jersey on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Eastwood Field in Niles.
Starting time for all three games is 7:05 p.m.
