Fireworks by Pa. company
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Pyrotecnico of New Castle is the producer of tonight's fireworks display at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston.
The musically choreographed program will be staged from four barges in Boston Harbor, using computer-controlled firing systems synchronized to patriotic music. More than 10,000 shells and illuminations will be launched in the 20-minute program.
Chris Mele, show producer, said the company got the job a few months ago after submitting a bid.
Prerecorded music will be played with the fireworks, he said.
"We are extremely proud to be part of such a large event. We look forward to showing our work to the people of Boston," Mele said.
Mele said a dozen people in Boston have been working on the display since Thursday. Pyrotecnico produces more than 2,000 shows annually.
