NY-PENN LEAGUE Batavia continues mastery over M.V.

BATAVIA, N.Y. -- The Batavia Muckdogs, after sweeping three games from Mahoning Valley in Niles, continued their dominance over the Scrappers with a 6-2 victory Monday at Dwyer Stadium.
The Scrappers (19-19) are in second place in the New York-Penn League's Pinckney Division.
The Muckdogs (18-19) have won eight of their last 11 contests and will host Mahoning Valley again tonight at 7:05.
It looked like the Scrappers were going to get something going in the first inning, but Tim Montgomery, who went 4-for-4 Sunday, popped up to the catcher with the bases loaded.
Taking the lead
Batavia then scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for keeps. After Mahoning Valley picked up a run in the third inning, Batavia answered in the bottom half of the inning on a three-run home run by Carl Galloway.
Marshall Szabo went 4-for-4 for the Scrappers. Argenis Reyas hit a pair of singles, while Wyatt Toregas hit a double and single.
Ryan Frith hit three singles for Batavia and Nicholas Shimer hit a double and single and stole a base.
Andrew Baldwin (2-2) worked five innings and scattered six hits to pick up the win.
Tony Sipp went two innings for the Scrappers giving up three hits and five runs and struck out seven.
