Amber Alert aids return of 4 children

COLUMBUS (AP) -- Four children reported missing by their parents were found unharmed with their step-grandfather, a convicted sex offender who was arrested, police said.
Officers found Wayne McMurtrey, 51, in a car with the three boys and a girl in a gas station parking lot Monday, about six hours after a statewide Amber Alert was issued.
A driver saw the alert on a message board posted over Interstate 70, then noticed the car on the freeway, contacted police and continued to follow the car.
"I am just so happy. I am thrilled. This is the happiest day of my life, to have my kids back with me," said 28-year-old Richard Skief, the boys' father and the girl's stepfather. "I was just so afraid all night long that something bad had happened to them."
The children were last seen about 22 hours earlier when McMurtrey told the parents that he was taking them to the park about noon Sunday.
The couple from the Dayton suburb of Miamisburg said they didn't know he had been in prison for molesting a child.
