Underage driver
YOUNGSTOWN -- A car driven by a 14-year-old boy was stopped by police on East Lucius Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, and the front-seat passenger, Ray L. Burt, 28, of East Judson Avenue, was arrested.
Police said they found a loaded .38-caliber handgun near Burt's seat, and a check revealed that it had been reported stolen. Burt was arrested on charges of permitting a minor to operate a vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, receiving stolen property (firearm), possession of drugs and three counts of child endangering.
Aside from the 14-year-old driver, two other occupants of the car were under 18, police said.
The woman who owns the car told police that Burt assured her that he has a valid license. Police said it's under suspension.
The woman said Burt should not have had her prescription pills, which police found in his pants pocket, reports show.
The driver was issued a citation for having no license and taken home.
