ROAD WORK Construction update
The Ohio and Pennsylvania transportation departments are working on these roads in Mahoning, Trumbull and Mercer counties this week.
MAHONING
Beloit/Sebring: State Route 165 will have various one-lane conditions maintained by flaggers from U.S. Route 62 to Beloit. The work is part of a $1 million project to resurface state Route 165 from Route 62 to the Beloit corporation limits and to resurface state Route 534 from state Route 165 to U.S. Route 224. The project is scheduled for completion in late summer.Youngstown: U.S. Route 422 between state Routes 711 and 193, and state Route 289 between state Route 193 and the Madison Avenue Expressway will have various lane restrictions. U.S. Route 422 from the old Division Street entrance to Lafayette Street is reduced to one lane in each direction until mid-August.Youngstown: The state Route 711 ramp from Stephens Street to Interstate 680 is closed. The scheduled reopening is in the fall. The detour route is Salt Springs Road to North Meridian Road to I-680. Also, the 711 bridge (Division Street) is closed.
Youngstown: The state Route 193 "Blue Bridge" is reduced to one lane in each direction, and the westbound exit ramp from the bridge to I-680 northbound is closed until late fall 2005.
Youngstown: Beginning Monday, there will be nightly lane restrictions until further notice from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the Vestal Road bridge over I-680 as the bridge is repaired.
Austintown: State Route 46 at the Route 46-Interstate 80 interchange is reduced to one lane in each direction. The work is part of the $7.2 million project to widen Route 46 to five lanes through the interchange from Silica Road to Webb Road. The project is scheduled for completion by late summer 2005.
Boardman and Youngstown: The bridge carrying Thalia Avenue over I-680 is closed until November while the bridge is rehabilitated.
Milton/Jackson townships: The Interstate 76 westbound exit ramp to state Route 534 is closed. The detour is Bailey Road to Mahoning Avenue to state Route 534. Grandview Road at I-76 also is closed. The I-76 bridge at Newton Falls Road is closed. The detour is Creed Road to Pricetown Road to Mahoning Avenue. I-76 in Milton and Jackson Townships will have various one-lane restrictions from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. nightly. The I-76 bridge at Duck Creek Road is closed. The posted detour is Silica Road to Bailey Road to Mahoning Avenue. This work is part of a project to reconstruct I-76 and rehabilitate bridges. It is scheduled for completion in fall 2005.
Boardman and Youngstown: I-680 from U.S. Route 224 to Williamson Avenue will have nightly lane restrictions from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. for resurfacing until further notice. There may also be daytime ramp restrictions, but traffic will be maintained.
Youngstown and Liberty: Gypsy Lane between Belmont Avenue and Forum Health Northside Medical Center is reduced to one lane in each direction.
TRUMBULL
Liberty: From now until Nov. 15, the temporary two-lane I-80 from the state Route 11 northbound ramp to just east of Belmont Avenue will be open for all eastbound traffic, with a temporary exit ramp to Belmont Avenue. After Nov. 15, this will become the state Route 711 northbound exit ramp to I-80.
Girard: U.S. Route 422 from I-80 to the city's northern corporation limits is reduced to one lane in each direction. The project calls for widening about three miles of Route 422 and should be completed in the fall.
Girard: Trumbull Avenue is closed between Gayla Lane and Robinwood Boulevard. The posted detour is state Route 193 to Gypsy Lane to Route 422.Howland: The eastbound lane of North River Road at state Route 46 is closed. Route 46 from North River Road to Raglan Road and King Graves Road will have various daytime lane restrictions. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on Route 46 as that road is widened and resurfaced and a left turn lane is added there. Raglan Road is being relocated to align with King Graves Road. The work is to be completed by late fall.Brookfield: State Route 82 is being resurfaced, and seven bridges along the route are being reconstructed. Route 82 is reduced to one lane in each direction between Collar-Price and Warner roads until further notice.
Hubbard/Brookfield: U.S. Route 62 and state Route 304 will have various lane restrictions. Resurfacing is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
Newton Falls/Warren: State Route 5 is reduced to one lane in each direction from the Warren city limits to the Portage County line. The resurfacing is slated to be completed in the fall.
Gustavus/Bristol/Mecca townships: State Route 87 between state Route 46 and state Route 5 will have various lane restrictions. In addition, state Route 88 between state Routes 45 and 46 will have various lane restrictions. This work is part of the $606,000 project to do preventative maintenance resurfacing and is scheduled for completion this summer.
MERCER
Hadley Road: Hempfield Township, shoulder cutting.
Good Hope Road: West Salem Township, road closed for paving.
Kennard-Atlantic Road: Sugar Grove Township, shoulder repair.
Scrubgrass Road: Wolf Creek Township, tree cutting.
Fredonia Road: Fairview Township, patching.
Yankee Ridge Road: Sandy Lake Township, patching.
Broadway Road: Hermitage, brushing.
Pine Hollow Boulevard: Hermitage, brushing.
Pa Route 18: West Middlesex, brushing.
Sharon-Bedford Road: Shenango Township, ditching.
Greenville-Mercer Road and Kidds Mill Road, Delaware Township, catch-basin replacement.
Methodist Road: Salem Township, ditching.
