RAY SWANSON | Keystoner Sean Miller's success continues

The last time I saw Sean Miller perform, he was just a little guy, dribbling basketballs at halftime of Blackhawk High School games where his father coaches.
Sean traveled with his father, John, and was a big drawing card for the Cougars as he was a master dribbler, even at a very young age.
He worked with two basketballs most of the time and could put most older players to shame with his adept dribbling and ballhandling tactics.
He also appeared at halftime of one of the Farrell High basketball games and was a big hit with the Steeler fans.
So what happened to Sean?
College success
He played for his father at Blackhawk, going on to a spectacular career at the University of Pittsburgh.
While playing with the Panthers, Sean, a point guard, was the Big East Conference's freshman of the year in 1988 and an all-conference player his senior year.
Today, Sean is the coach at Xavier University in Cincinnati. He was named on July 8, replacing former coach Thad Matta, who left for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Miller has been around. At age 35, he was with Matta as his first in command since 2001. He had previously been an assistant at North Carolina State for five seasons. He had also been an assistant at Pitt, Miami (Ohio) and Wisconsin.
He will have some big shoes to fill at Xavier. The Musketeers advanced to within one game of the Final Four last season with Matta at the helm. All four of Matta's teams at Xavier advanced into the NCAA Tournament, posting records of 26-6, 26-6, and 26-11.
Xavier didn't waste any time naming Miller to the post following Matta's departure. He was elevated almost as soon as Matta stated he was leaving. In other words, Xavier seemed very content to have Miller as its new coach.
Matta took two of his assistants at Xavier with him to Ohio State so Miller will immediately begin a quest for his new assistants. Anyway you look at it, it's great to have another Western Pennsylvania product coaching one of the top basketball teams in the nation.
Good luck, Sean.
Aden gets post
Steve Aden, 41, and a former assistant girls basketball coach at Lakeview (Pa.) High School, has been elevated to the head coaching position. He assumes his new duties immediately.
Aden, a long-time assistant coach at Lakeview, replaces former coach Frank Shugarts, who resigned.
The new coach said he was a little tentative about accepting the position since his daughter, Sheena, a sophomore, had been one of the top players for Lakeview last season.
As a freshman, she scored 504 points and Steve had a few qualms about a dad coaching his daughter. However he believes things will work out well.
