MERCER COUNTY Senior Follies variety show to hit the stage

HERMITAGE, Pa. -- It's been months in the planning and rehearsals, and the Mercer County Senior Follies will finally take to the stage Aug. 7.
"That's Entertainment," the show's title, will feature singers, dancers, a mime, a ventriloquist, comedic routines and a Senior Follies Chorus, making it truly a variety show.
Local radio personality, Tony C., will serve as master of ceremonies.
Auditions and rehearsals for the show began in April but more than a year has been invested in planning the event.
Performers ranging in age from their 50s to their 90s from across Mercer County, as well as some visiting acts from neighboring Trumbull County, will perform at 7 p.m. on the stage in Hickory High School Auditorium on North Hermitage Road.
Julie Freeman, director of seventh- through 12th-grade orchestras and choirs for the Hermitage School District, is director of the show. Bonnie Banick, who is affiliated with Linda Lucas Dance Studio, is the choreographer.
Maureen Murray-Jaklic, who has experience in local musical theater productions, is the musical director and accompanist.
"I am both impressed and inspired by the talent we have been able to showcase," Freeman said.
Tickets, at $10 each, will be on sale at the box office on show night but may also be reserved by calling (724) 981-8750, Ext. 1244.
All proceeds will benefit the Shenango Valley Multi-Service Senior Center in Hermitage.
