Flen golden event is celebrated with open house
XHUBBARD -- An open house was held July 10 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Flen, 3906 Pothour Wheeler Road, in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Hosts for the event were the honorees' children and spouses, Donna and Jeff Bosela and John and Joan Flen, all of Hubbard, and Linda and John Bosela of Boardman, and their five grandchildren.
The former Lillian Elizabeth Osesky and Mr. Flen were married July 9, 1954, in Beaver, Pa. They settled in Hubbard in 1955.
Mrs. Flen worked as a secretary for Alcoa Aluminum Co. in New Kensington, Pa., and the International Institute in Youngstown.
Mr. Flen, originally from Sambir in the Ukraine, came to the United States in 1951. He also had lived in England and Germany. He was a butcher for Joseph's Supermarket in New Castle, Pa., and retired in 1985 from Cyclops Steel Co. in Wheatland, Pa. He also was a landscaper. Mr. Flen remains active as a farmer and butcher.
