The Cleveland Browns have signed sixth-round draft pick Kirk Chambers, an offensive lineman out of Stanford, the club announced Friday. Terms weren't disclosed.
The 6-foot-7, 313-pound Chambers, the 176th draft pick overall, started all 45 games in which he played for Stanford.
Chambers, now 25, took two years off for a Mormon mission in Berlin, Germany, and returned as Stanford's oldest player.
Steelers
Linebacker Clark Haggans will miss at least several weeks of Steelers training camp because of a broken hand.
Haggans, who replaced Jason Gildon as the starting left outside linebacker, broke his hand while lifting weights this week.
Second-year player Alonzo Jackson will replace Haggans while he recuperates. Jackson, the team's second-round draft choice last year, suited up for only the first two games as a rookie.
Bengals
A state appeals court which is to hear a dispute between the Cincinnati Bengals and a group of fans over ticket purchases told the team Friday to leave the ticketholders alone until the court case is decided.
The Bengals are to cease all communications with the fans and stop all efforts to collect payment from them while the case is pending, the 1st Ohio District Court of Appeals said in a one-page order. A three-judge panel of the court said it will hear arguments by lawyers for both sides on Nov. 10.
