Book collects postcards from U.S. locales

Book collects postcardsfrom U.S. locales
Imagine sending a card of an interstate overpass. Is this really the best memento of a trip?
And who made the executive decision to immortalize this image as a postcard?
And what did the recipients think? Were they filled with envy that Joe and his family got to see this glorious highway?
Or perhaps they laughed, which is what makes "Boring Postcards USA" (Phaidon Press, $9.95) so much fun.
The book includes gas stations, truck stops and a close-up of a tray of unrecognizable cafeteria food.

Manhattan is home todensest Crystal District
NEW YORK (AP) -- Everybody's heard of Manhattan's Theater District.
The city's Garment District and Flower District are well-known, too.
But did you know that the Big Apple also has a Crystal District?
Five blocks along Madison Avenue between 58th and 63rd streets house more luxury crystal outlets than any other quarter-mile of real estate in the world, according to NYC & amp;Co., the city's convention and visitors bureau.
You'll find jewelry, lighting, vases, stemware, bowls, figurines and various objets d'art at Baccarat at 625 Madison Ave., Daum at 694 Madison Ave., Lalique at 712 Madison Ave., Steuben at 667 Madison Ave. and Swarovski at 625 Madison Ave.
Just make sure your treasures are packed carefully for the trip home.
