AMERICAN LEAGUE Red Sox's Mueller tags Rivera for two-run walk-off home run

Mark Kotsay homered twice in Oakland's win over Texas.

BOSTON -- There's a little fight left in the Boston Red Sox, after all.
Bill Mueller hit a two-run homer off Mariano Rivera to cap a three-run ninth inning Saturday, and the Red Sox rallied to beat the New York Yankees 11-10 after a brawl sparked when Alex Rodriguez was hit by a pitch.
Former Yankee Ramiro Mendoza (1-0) earned the win with two hitless innings for Boston, which overcame four errors and rallied from a 9-4 deficit.
Boston trailed 10-8 when Nomar Garciaparra doubled to lead off the ninth against Rivera (1-1), who had converted 23 straight save chances. Trot Nixon hit a fly ball to the warning track and then Kevin Millar followed with his fourth hit of the game, a single that scored Garciaparra.
Mueller then homered into the bullpen, just the second homer off Rivera this year.
"What a difference a swing makes," said Boston manager Terry Francona, who had been ejected in the fifth. "We didn't quit."

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Mark Kotsay homered twice, and the Oakland Athletics snapped a three-game losing streak with a victory over the Texas Rangers.
Kotsay connected for a two-run homer in the third and a solo shot in the fifth, sending both over the right-field wall and giving him seven home runs this season. It was his second career multihomer game and first since Sept. 22, 2002, against Los Angeles while with San Diego.

David Newhan drove in the tiebreaking run with a seventh-inning sacrifice fly, and the Orioles' bullpen made it stand up. B.J. Ryan struck out the side in the eighth, and Jorge Julio worked a perfect ninth for his 15th save in 17 chances.

White Sox 7, Tigers 6
CHICAGO -- Joe Crede hit a two-run double in the seventh inning and a game-ending home run in the ninth to rally the Chicago White Sox over the Detroit Tigers Saturday night.
Chicago won its fourth straight and moved ahead of Minnesota into the AL Central lead. The White Sox trailed 4-0 in the fifth inning and 6-2 in the seventh before coming back to send the Tigers to their sixth loss in eight games.
The White Sox scored three times in the seventh on Crede's opposite-field double off Jason Johnson and Willie Harris' sacrifice fly.
Carlos Lee walked against Esteban Yan leading off the eighth, took second on Carl Everett's grounder, advanced on a wild pitch, then tied it on Paul Konerko's sacrifice fly.
Crede homered with one out in the ninth on a 3-2 pitch from Ugueth Urbina (3-5), the fourth game-ending homer of Crede's career.
