Babe Ruth (age 13)
Youngstown 9, Newark 1 -- Nick Crum struck out nine batters while pitching a three-hitter to lead the Youngstown Babe Ruth All-Stars to victory over Newark. Hitting leaders for Youngstown were John Simon, Jaymee Shephard, Shawn Roman, Drew Fitzpatrick and Jason Bagoly.
Youngstown 15, Newark 5 -- The Youngstown Babe Ruth All-Star team won the state championship by defeating Newark at Springfield Memorial Stadium. Pitching for Youngstown were Corey Hill and Shane Wagner. Leading the offensive charge for Youngstown were Anthony Franceschelli, Shawn Roman, Dan Baco, Johnny Simon, Kevin McCulloh and Jaymee Shephard. Shephard also hit a two-run home run.
Junior League (ages 13-14)
Canfield 4, Willard 3 -- Steven Schoenfeld scored on a hit by Bobby Herberger for the deciding run in the sixth inning in the state tournament game at Cincinnati. Canfield, which advanced to the winner's bracket final, rallied from a 3-0 deficit to prevail. Daniel Banna pitched shutout 42/3 innings to pick up the win.
