COLUMBIANA -- Voters will see a 1.5-mill, five-year levy on the Nov. 2 ballot for park improvements.
City council voted Tuesday to place the levy on the ballot and have the county auditor certify the amount of money that 1.5 mills will generate.
Mayor Lowell Schloneger said the levy will generate about $158,000 per year and be used for improvements at the Metz Road baseball fields, the visitors bleachers at the football stadium, pavilion renovation and repairs and improved drainage, all at Firestone Park.
Council will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 3 to complete the necessary levy paperwork. Aug. 19 is the deadline to the board of elections to put issues on the fall ballot.

The Lisbon post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said David Marlow, 43, of Atwater escaped injury after his dump truck overturned on a curve.
The patrol said Marlow was driving west on Route 172 around 9:30 a.m. when he lost control of his dump truck on a curve. The truck went off the right edge of the road and overturned, spilling a chemical agent known as urea onto the roadway. A towing company and a contractor cleaned up the mess and the highway reopened to traffic around 3:30 p.m.
Marlow, who drives for Adelman Trucking of Randolph, was cited for failure to control his vehicle.

The board has until Aug. 19 to pass the two resolutions needed to put a levy on the Nov. 2 ballot. Zambrini said the board hasn't determined the size of the increase it might seek.
