Train strikes truck, damages building
COLUMBIANA -- A westbound freight train struck a southbound tractor-trailer that got hung up on a Norfolk-Southern grade crossing at Fairfield Avenue on Monday, but there were no injuries, police said.
The truck driver, Robert Kincaid, 34, of Kinsman, was delivering a large ladle to Reichard Industries. The train pushed the ladle into the Reichard building at 11:37 a.m., damaging that building, which is adjacent to the crossing. The crossing was closed for about nine hours. Also blocked was the grade crossing at Main Street.
Police said Kincaid jumped from the truck cab as the train approached. The train separated the truck from the trailer and dragged the trailer and the ladle into the building, leveling a shipping office.
Kincaid works for B & amp; K Transportation of Wisconsin. Police cited him for obstructing a grade crossing.
