SOAP SCOOP Daytime TV news

A NEW BELLE: After an intense search for the new Belle Brady, including several major daytime names being tossed around, "Days of Our Lives" has cast Charity Rahmer in the coveted role. She is expected to debut today. Rahmer, a soap newcomer, has appeared in several low-budget horror films.
SAYING GOODBYE: "Guiding Light" is saying goodbye to Marty West as Shayne. The actor's contract expires this month. Shayne's story line has sharply diminished, so there are no plans to recast the part. Also saying goodbye to his role is David Lago, who plays Raul on "Young and Restless." The actor's contract is up in August, but based on his announcement to Brittany on the show last week, Raul is most likely leaving sooner.
'B & amp;B' NEWS: On "Bold and Beautiful," Brian Gaskill's role as Oscar has been downshifted to recurring, an expected development since the character hasn't had much to do in recent months. "B & amp;B" presents three contestants from "America's Next Top Model" airing on the show July 27 and 28 and Aug. 3.
BEHIND THE SCENES: James dePaiva, who acted and directed on "One Life to Live," is now working behind the cameras at "As the World Turns." Also on "ATWT," 8-year-old Giovani Cimmino takes over the role of Parker starting Tuesday.
OFF THE AIR: Skye will be absent from the action in Port Charles for a while, as "General Hospital's" Robin Christopher goes on maternity leave. Meanwhile, as "GH's" Laura is still in points unknown, actress Genie Francis will appear in a feature film based on the British TV series "Thunderbirds." The film opens July 30.
