Arrested on drug charge
YOUNGSTOWN -- Brian J. Boccieri, 38, of Cheyenne Drive, Girard, was arrested on a drug charge around 2:30 a.m. Sunday when the driver of the car he was in failed to signal a lane change on Interstate 680, reports show. Police said the driver and Boccieri had been at a known drug house on Hine Street before their car entered the freeway. He was arrested on charges of trafficking in crack cocaine and consumption of alcohol (beer) in a motor vehicle. The driver was issued a summons for failing to signal a lane change and released. Police said they confiscated seven packaged-for-sale bags of suspected crack cocaine from a Styrofoam cup.
Stolen car spotted
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 1987 Honda Accord stolen in Beaver Township and being driven by a man suspected of theft offenses in Youngstown and Struthers was spotted Saturday afternoon on the South Side. Police followed the car, which sped up and went through stop signs and red lights before the engine gave out on West Glenaven Avenue. The driver, Alfred Bunting Jr., 29, of Bennington Avenue was arrested on charges of theft (shoplifting), driving under suspension, receiving stolen property and failure to comply with a police order.
Weapons charge
YOUNGSTOWN -- Three men in hooded sweat shirts despite the temperature's being 75 degrees caught the attention of police on Bennington Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Two of the men got away but the third, Terrill J. Blackshear, 18, of Lansdowne Boulevard was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a dangerous ordnance. Police said Blackshear had an assault rifle stuffed down the waistband of his pants.
Homeowner seminars
YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown Area Urban League will host the first of this month's series of homeownership/financial literacy seminars at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. YOUNGSTOWN -- A representative of U.S. Sen. George V. Voinovich will have office hours from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the lower level hearing room of the Mahoning County Common Pleas Court building. Residents can meet with a member of the senator's staff to discuss federal legislation or to seek assistance with federal agency casework issues. For those unable to attend, Sens. Day camp for kids
STRUTHERS -- Mill Creek Park MetroParks will have "The Lil' Rascals in Yellow Creek Park Summer Camp" for children just entering kindergarten from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 4-5. There will be indoor and outdoor activities, plus storytimes and crafts at this beginner day camp. Campers will go on short walks to learn about nature. The registration deadline is Friday. The fee is $10 for Mahoning County residents and $15 for nonresidents.

BOARDMAN -- Everything but the kitchen sink is what a township woman says is missing from her Simon Road home. According to police, the woman said her son's live-in girlfriend recently moved out of the home, taking with her furniture, dishes, tools and electronic equipment worth nearly $8,000 and $1,000 in cash. Police are investigating, and no arrests have been made.
