Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are Starsky and Hutch in this big-screen treatment of the '70s detective series.
Available on DVD this week from Warner Bros. for $27.95, the movie is a prequel to the show, which aired for four seasons.
"Starsky & amp; Hutch" follows the officers' first case as a duo. The film won an MTV Award for best kiss by Owen Wilson and co-stars Carmen Electra and Amy Smart.
Bonus features include commentary from director Todd Phillips, a spoof on behind-the-scenes documentaries, hidden features and deleted scenes.
David Starsky (Stiller) is trying to live up to his mother's legacy as a former officer. Although his mom was able to keep the same partner throughout her career, Starsky hasn't had the same good fortune due to his overzealousness.
In contrast, Ken Hutchinson (Wilson) is an easygoing officer who sometimes leans toward the opposite side of the law.
The mismatched pair use their good looks, street smarts and undercover skills to solve a high-stakes case.
Michael Rechtshaffen of The Hollywood Reporter wrote that the film "cruises along agreeably on the easy chemistry between Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson."
Snoop Dogg, Juliette Lewis, Fred Williamson, Vince Vaughn and Jason Bateman also co-star in this PG-13 movie.
