NOTEBOOK Giant Eagle LPGA Classic

Pro-Am ace: Chuck Burley of Canfield made a hole-in-one on the No. 9 hole at Squaw Creek Country Club during the morning round Thursday of the Cellular One Pro-Am Classic. He aced the 134-yard hole with a 9-iron and was playing in a group that included LPGA pro Pearl Sinn-Bonanni, Jeff Hill, Don Peterson and Tom Coco. Burley won a set of Calloway golf clubs from Golf Headquarters.
Almost no show: Tammie Green, a two-time champion of the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic winning in 1994 and 1997, almost didn't make it here this week. "My mom had quadruple bypass heart surgery two weeks ago and she has been slow to recovery," Green said. "We thought for a while that we might have to cancel out this week. Green has not played the two previous weeks, is scheduled here and then will be off the next two weeks. "I'm not going to Europe and it will give me so extra time to spend at home with mom," she said.
