Wife arrested in beating
CANFIELD -- Police arrested a North Broad Street woman this morning after her husband reported that she beat him at their apartment. Police charged Christine Kellar, 39, with domestic violence. Her husband told police that he and Kellar had been having marital problems and that she had not been staying at the apartment this week. Reports state that about 11 p.m. Wednesday, Kellar came to the apartment with two men to pick up some of her belongings. The men waited outside the locked apartment door. Her husband said when he tried to escort Kellar out of the apartment, she yelled, and the two men kicked in the door. The men then held the husband down as Kellar beat him, reports state. The husband told police that the men released him after several minutes, but ordered him to stay on the ground while they ate waffles. They left after about an hour, the husband said.
Liberty zoning
LIBERTY -- The township zoning commission is recommending to township trustees that 90 acres off state Route 304 not be rezoned for industry. Instead, the commission recommended Wednesday that 60 acres be rezoned from residential to commercial, and 30 acres remain residential. James Rodway, township zoning inspector, said the 30 acres that will remain residential if trustees approve are adjacent to a residential development. There will also be an additional 100-foot buffer, on which nothing can be constructed. Builder Robert Walley of Liberty had told the commission he doesn't have any plans for the property. Homeowners along the adjacent housing development had vigorously opposed the requested change.
