NY-PENN LEAGUE Surging Scrappers topple Jamestown for fourth straight
Mahoning Valley used a seven-run fifth to beat the Jammers 11-2.
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. -- When the New York-Penn League took last Thursday off, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers must have used the breather as a time to regroup.
After dropping their first game back from the break, the Scrappers have now won four in a row including Tuesday's 11-2 decision over the Jamestown Jammers (9-16).
Chris Gimenez led the Scrappers with two homers and five RBIs.
The Scrappers scored once in the top of the second inning and a three-run third inning made it 4-0.
Mahoning Valley then enjoyed a seven-run fifth inning to open an 11-run lead.
Gimenez hit his fourth and fifth homer of the season to ignite the big innings for the Scrappers (12-13).
Fernando Pacheco also homered and Teo Encarnacion tripled for Mahoning Valley.
Mike Butia went 2-for-5 with two runs scored while Argenis Reyes was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
The two teams were scheduled to play again today at 1:05 p.m. with the Scrappers looking for a sweep.
