SOAP SCOOP Daytime TV news
"ALL MY CHILDREN" ADDS A NEW TWIST: Newcomer James Scott has been signed to "All My Children" in the contract role of Ethan Ramsey and will appear starting Aug. 10. Ethan is a young man who claims he's the heir to the Cambias fortune -- an announcement that will put him into conflict with at least a few of Pine Valley's finest.
IT'S REAL: Later this year, "AMC" is taking reel life into real life, as the fictional cosmetic company Enchantment launches a real Enchantment fragrance in Wal-Mart stores across the country. The on-air story line will include decisions about designing and marketing the new fragrance, which is expected to become available in late September, with a gift set planned for the holidays.
GOODBYES: Kirsten Storms will make her final appearance as Belle on "Days of Our Lives" on Thursday, as the intense search for her replacement goes on. That same day, Peggy McCay returns to "Days" in her longtime role of Caroline Brady. "General Hospital" bids a fond farewell to Lila Quartermaine on Friday, with a number of former cast members expected to return for the occasion.
REPLAY: "Paper Dolls," a nighttime soap about the modeling industry that originally aired in 1984 and starred Morgan Fairchild, Mimi Rogers and Nicolette Sheridan, has been acquired by SoapNet and debuts at 10 p.m. Saturday.
SWEEPSTAKES: "As the World Turns" and "Guiding Light" are running watch-and-win sweepstakes now through Friday, with the grand prize being a trip to New York City and a walk-on role. The contest is being held in Baltimore and Dallas for "GL," and in Pittsburgh, Denver and Minneapolis for "ATWT." Those interested should watch the shows, then log onto the Web sites of the stations airing them.
