VIENNA -- Mother Nature was not kind to the participants in the 2004 Home Savings/Butler Wick Pro-Am Golf Tournament, which kicked off the week of the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic at Squaw Creek Country Club Monday.
Heavy rains fell on both the morning and afternoon contingent of golfers, forcing tournament officials to cut the event to a 9-hole play, with winners in each of the morning and afternoon play.
"Since all the teams did not get to complete 18 holes we only felt it was fair to limit the tournament to the first nine holes completed by each group," said Rich Thomas, coordinator of tournament operations.
The five-person scramble events included 21 teams in the morning round and 22 teams in the afternoon. Each team consisted of one LPGA player and four amateurs.
