MAHONING COUNTY Teen appears in court on charges in shooting

The bullet was found in the kitchen of a nearby home.
AUSTINTOWN -- A Kroeck Avenue man accused of shooting at two people on South Edgehill Avenue last week is in Mahoning County jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.
Donald L. Mulholland, 19, appeared in Mahoning County Court in Austintown on Monday on charges of attempted aggravated murder, improper discharge of a firearm into a habitation, illegal possession of a weapon based on a prior conviction and unlawful possession of a dangerous ordnance. All of the charges are felonies, so no plea was accepted. Judge David D'Apolito set Mulholland's bail at $500,000 and scheduled his next hearing for July 22.
Mulholland had been charged by police with two counts of felonious assault, but prosecutors instead decided to charge him with attempted aggravated murder after reading police reports and witness statements.
Police said Mulholland went to a home in the 200 block of South Edgehill Avenue at about 3:50 p.m. Friday and asked a woman in the yard if another person was home. The second person came out of the garage, and Mulholland fired one or two shots from his car in the direction of the two and drove off, police said.
Neighbor's home
The owner of a home nearby on South Roanoke Avenue home later told police she was in her bathroom when she heard what she thought was a firecracker in her back yard. She then found the bullet fired by Mulholland on a cabinet in her kitchen, police said.
Police later stopped Mulholland traveling in the 6200 block of Mahoning Avenue. A modified .22-caliber rifle was recovered on the sidewalk in the 5000 block of Mahoning Avenue, and police said they think Mulholland threw it from the car.
