Woman receives fine, court costs after no contest plea

STRUTHERS -- Barbara Coloutes, 40, of Lowellville was fined $100 plus court costs after pleading no contest to a charge of failure to control her vehicle.
Judge Raymond DeLost amended the charge from driving under the influence.
Coloutes, the girlfriend of Mayor James Iudiciani, was charged with DUI last October after the blue Chevrolet Blazer she was driving struck the front porch of a house in the 100 block of West Wood Street.
Paint from the Blazer was found on the porch, police said, and the structure was moved out of place.
The concerned citizen who reported the accident via 911 stated that the female driver was drunk. Police also noted "a strong odor of alcohol" coming from Coloutes, who was extremely uncooperative, refused a breath-analysis test, used obscene language and gestures toward police officers and, while police were investigating the incident, left the police cruiser, walked to her home a short distance away and refused to return to the scene of the accident, according to four-page memo written by William H. Vance, chief of police.
According to the memo, Iudiciani, who was a councilman at the time, asked officers not to charge Coloutes with DUI. Iudiciani later told The Vindicator that he didn't recall making that statement.
