Struthers Davidson-Becker 6, Boardman Boosters 4 -- Struthers scored four runs in the fifth inning and held off a last-inning rally by Boardman to win its semifinal tournament game. Dave Yash, Tristan Suchora and Jim Ritter had key hits while Jim Matricardi got the pitching win with strong relief help from Ryan Spatholt. Tim Ortega, Ryan Oleski and Mike Calcagni all had hits for Boardman. Brad Moody pitched a complete game in the loss.

Valley Sting Purple 16U finished second at the ASA state tournament in Marion. Valley Sting opened with a 3-2 win over the Lady Lasers Blue. Down 2-0 in the sixth, Sting rallied with Trisha Dreslinski (Kingsville) leading off with a single and scoring on a triple by Kari Thompson (Poland). Thompson scored on a single by Markie Pozzuto (Mecca) which tied the score at 2. It then took two innings using the international tiebreaker for the outcome to be determined. Sting scored the winner on a suicide squeeze bunt by Dreslinski that scored Allie Patton (Poland). Pitchers Dreslinski, Jessica Sferra (Columbiana), Patton and Pozzuto combined for the win. Sting defeated Lady Lasers Pink 6-1. Pozzuto pitched a four-hitter and was helped at the plate by Ashley Conger's (Poland) three hits, Dar Bott's (Conneaut) two hits and two runs scored, Amy Downs' (Cortland) two hits and two runs scored and Patton's two-run double. Sting defeated Coca Cola, the current NSA "A" state champion, 4-3. Sting rallied for two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh. Pozzuto had three hits and three RBIs, and Patton had three hits. Chelsea Butler (Cortland) and Conger had two hits each. Dreslinski, Sferra Patton and Pozzuto combined on the pitching. In the championship game, Sting lost 5-2 to Lady Lasers Blue. Dreslinski led the offense with three hits.
