MAHONING COUNTY Austintown man to face court in shots fired at 2
A bullet went into the kitchen of a nearby home.
AUSTINTOWN -- An Austintown man was set to appear in Mahoning County Court here late today on charges stemming from shots fired toward two people Friday afternoon on South Edgehill Avenue.
A bullet believed to be from the shooting entered the rear of a home in the 200 block of South Roanoke and was found in the kitchen, Austintown police said.
Police charged Donald L. Mulholland, 19, of 35 Kroeck Avenue, with two counts of felonious assault, improper discharge of a firearm into a habitation, illegal possession of a weapon based on a prior conviction and unlawful possession of a dangerous ordnance.
What police reported
About 3:50 p.m. Friday, Mulholland went to a home in the 200 block of South Edgehill and asked a woman in the yard if another person was home, police reported. The second person came out of the garage, and Mulholland fired one or two shots from his car in the direction of the two and drove off, police said.
The owner of the South Roanoke home said she was in the bathroom when she heard what she thought was firecracker in her back yard. She then found the bullet on a cabinet in her kitchen, police said.
Police later stopped Mulholland traveling in the 6200 block of Mahoning Avenue. The modified .22 caliber rifle was recovered on the sidewalk in the 5000 block of Mahoning Avenue, and police said they think Mulholland threw it from the car. He was booked into the Mahoning County jail.
