Sternberghs mark 50th on family cruise



XNEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Mr. and Mrs. Alan Sternbergh of New Wilmington, Pa., celebrated their golden wedding anniversary June 26 during a Caribbean cruise with their children and grandchildren.
Their children and their spouses are Karen and James Gerstner of Houston, who celebrated their 25th anniversary June 9; Cynthia and Bill Travers of Catonsville, Md.; Gail Durrett of Spring, Texas; and Elliott and Janet Sternbergh of Carlisle, Pa. Also joining them for the trip were their six grandchildren and Mr. Gerstner's parents, Pat and Frank Gerstner of Cumberland, R.I., who also celebrated their 50th anniversary June 26. The Gerstners' other children and their grandchildren also made the trip.
Mr. Sternbergh and the former Margaret Elliott were married June 26, 1954, at First Presbyterian Church in Hollidaysburg, Pa. They lived in Poland prior to moving to New Wilmington, where Mr. Sternbergh was director of career counseling services at Westminster College until retiring in 1999. He is a member of the New Wilmington Kiwanis and various area business groups.
His wife is a homemaker and volunteer at Jameson Hospital in New Castle, Pa. She belongs to the Jameson Junior Guild and Tuesday Afternoon Garden Club of New Wilmington. She also presents programs on antiques.
The Sternberghs belong to Neshannock Presbyterian Church.
