Achieves Eagle rank
Brandon Kochert, son of Dave and Rose Kochert of Ellsworth, recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Brandon is a member of Boy Scout Troop 71, Whispering Pines District of the Greater Western Reserve Council.
His scouting career began in 1993 when he joined Cub Scout Pack 32. After earning his Arrow of Light in 1997, he joined Boy Scout Troop 71 of Ellsworth and Berlin Center.
He served as patrol leader, quarter master, senior patrol leader and troop guide. His court of honor ceremony was held at Glista Lake.
His Eagle service project was to landscape the VFW Post 9571 property in Ellsworth by mulching and removing railroad ties and replacing the ties with a decorative parking lot border. The post is Troop 71's sponsoring organization.
He is a 2004 graduate of Western Reserve High School and Mahoning County Career and Technical Center in Canfield and received his diploma as a power equipment mechanic with honors.
DOCTOR
To begin residency
Jason J. Davis of Boardman has received his doctor of medicine degree from the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo. He graduated from Boardman High School in 1996.
A 2000 magna cum laude graduate of Mount Union College, Alliance, where he earned his bachelor's degree in biology, Dr. Davis will begin a residency in orthopedic surgery at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit.
While at MCO, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and was the recipient of college's Dr. Richard D. Ruppert scholarship. Dr. Ruppert was MCO's third president.
He is the son of Thomas and Kathie Davis of Boardman.
PHARMACISTS
Degree from Ohio State
Frank A. Micchia III, a 1994 graduate of Canfield High School, has received his doctor of pharmacology degree from Ohio State University, where he also received his bachelor's degree in microbiology.
Dr. Micchia is the son of Frank and Marcia Micchia of Canfield. He has accepted a position as pharmacist for the Kroger Company in Columbus.
Johns Hopkins residency
Michelle C. Caruso, a 1994 valedictorian of Austintown Fitch High school, graduated magna cum laude from Ohio State University with a doctor of pharmacology degree.
At graduation, she received the Anne L. Burns Award for outstanding professionalism, leadership and service to the college of pharmacy.
She is the daughter of George and Bernice Caruso of Austintown. Dr. Caruso has accepted a position as a pharmacy practice resident with John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Urban education degree
Tracy M. Harris, formerly of Youngstown, recently received her doctorate in urban education from Cleveland State University. Her dissertation was "The Relationship between Teacher Efficacy and Participation in Peer Collaborative Practices in an Urban School District."
She was a 1988 graduate of Chaney High School, received a bachelor's degree in education in 1993 from Youngstown State University, and earned a master's degree in educational administration from Cleveland State in 1998.
Dr. Harris formerly taught elementary education and special education at George Washington Carver Elementary School in Cleveland. She is currently a limited service instructor at CSU.
She is a daughter of Alex Murphy of Struthers and Michelle Posey of Los Angeles. She and her husband, Christopher, live in Cleveland Heights.
HONORS
Photography award
At the annual convention and symposium of the International Society of Photographers in Washington, D.C., James W. Hill of Austintown received the outstanding achievement in amateur photography award.
He also received a bronze commemorative medallion and a full-year membership in the society for 2004-05.
The winning photograph of his twin great-grandsons Christopher and Aaron Moore was titled "Mother's Pride and Joy."
More than 1,500 photographers from more than a dozen countries were in attendance.
Hill was the official photographer for Al Koran Shrine in Cleveland and Youngstown Shrine Club for many years.
He is a master Mason and belongs to St. Albans Lodge 677, Temple on the Hill High Twelve Club 720, and is second vice president of the Ohio Association of High Twelve Clubs.
He is a 32nd degree Mason of the Valley of Youngstown, member of York Rite Bodies of Youngstown, Al Koran Shrine of Cleveland and Youngstown Shrine Club.
Hill, 80, belongs to Christ Church in Boardman. He and his wife, Winnie, have five children, 22 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
