SCHOOLS Columbiana continues to fill posts

COLUMBIANA -- Three new Columbiana Schools administrators will be in place by Tuesday with the expected hiring of Tim Saxton as Columbiana High School principal.
School Superintendent Ron Iarussi said he will recommend Saxton to the board Tuesday for a two-year contract starting Aug. 2 at $70,000 a year.
Saxton, 36, is originally from Canfield. He has been principal of Carrollton High School in Carroll County since 1999. Before that he was assistant high-school principal here for two years.
Iarussi said Saxton and his wife, Marilyn, live in Carroll County, but plan to relocate. They want to move back to the Youngstown area, Iarussi said.
Elementary principal
Last week, the board hired Rachel Scull, 29, of Austintown, as the new principal of Joshua Dixon Elementary. She begins her duties Aug. 2 at $58,000 per year. She has been principal of Pymatuning Elementary in the Pymatuning Valley School District.
Scull replaces John Scardino, who retired. Saxton replaces Iarussi, who became superintendent July 1. Former superintendent Patricia Hura died of cancer in October 2003.
The board hired Iarussi as superintendent April 26 from a list of 30 candidates.
