Rose society announces show winners

YOUNGSTOWN --Mahoning Valley Rose Society held its second annual rose show June 26 at Fellows Riverside Gardens.
Entries were judged by Terry Lady, director of the Buckeye District of the American Rose Society, and Randy Lady, editor of the Buckeye Bulletin. Winners at the show and their awards in various categories were:
UR.J. Anthony -- Best in Show, Queen, King, Court, Mini Queen, Mini King, Mini Princess, Mini Court, Large Rose in Bowl, Best Single-Petaled Mini Bloom, Best Mini Rose in a Bowl and Best Mini English Box.
UWarren Knopp -- Princess, Best Hybrid Tea Spray, Best Floribunda Spray and Best AARS Selection.
URichard Stromberg -- Best Floribunda Bloom, Best Grandiflora Spray, Best Polyantha Spray and Best Mini Spray.
UPat Martinec -- Best Modern Shrub, Best Full-Blown Hybrid Tea, Most Fragrant Rose and Best Single-Petaled Large Rose.
UAndrea Pernotto -- Best Full Blown Mini.
URoxanne Macynski -- Best Climber and Dowager Queen.
UAlice Sassone -- Richard Stromberg Trophy.
UMartha Murphy -- Best Novice Award.
