BEDFORD DOWNS
Race type: thoroughbred and harness. Proposed site: Lawrence County. Applicant: Bedford Downs Management Corp. Background: New company owned by Carmen Shick, a Lawrence County businessman who oversees coal, quarry and construction businesses, and members of his family.
PENNSYLVANIA DOWNS
Race type: thoroughbred. Proposed site: Beaver County. Applicant: Western Pennsylvania Racing Associates LLC. Background: New company headed by the top executives of Pittsburgh real estate company Oxford Development Co.
VALLEY VIEW DOWNS
Race type: harness. Proposed site: Beaver County. Applicant: Valley View Downs LP. Background: New subsidiary of Centaur Inc., of Indianapolis, a multistate gambling and racing company.
