Case against Rigasends in a mistrial
NEW YORK -- The case against former Adelphia Communications Corp. operations chief Michael Rigas ended in a mistrial Friday with jurors deadlocked on 17 counts against him.
The jury had considered 15 counts of securities fraud and two counts of bank fraud against Rigas, 50. They already had cleared him of conspiracy and wire-fraud charges.
The same jury convicted Michael Rigas' father, John, and his brother, Timothy, of conspiring to hide $2.3 billion in debt at Adelphia and raid its coffers for their personal enrichment.
Former Adelphia assistant treasurer Michael Mulcahey was acquitted of all charges.

Gas prices risein Northeast Ohio
YOUNGSTOWN -- Northeast Ohio gas prices jumped a nickel a gallon to an average $1.88, up from $1.83 a week ago, based on AAA Ohio Motorists Association's weekly Fuel Gauge survey. Ohio's state average is $1.84, and the national average is $1.89.
