CHARITY EVENT Southern Park Mall plans to host Simon Evening of Giving

YOUNGSTOWN -- Southern Park Mall is inviting local charities and nonprofit organizations to sign up to participate in the Simon Evening of Giving, a private shopping and entertainment event that raises funds for national, regional and local charities.
On the evening of Nov. 21, Southern Park Mall will be reserved for the use of shoppers who have purchased $10 Simon Evening of Giving tickets from participating charities. Stores will feature event discounts.
Youngstown-area charities will receive $7 from each ticket they sell. The remaining $3 will go to the Simon Youth Foundation, a nonprofit organization that fosters educational and career development for at-risk youths. The Simon Youth Foundation was established in 1998 by Simon Property Group, owners of the mall.
In addition, charities that assist in event night ticket sales will be able to display information about their organizations during the shopping.
Last year, Simon Evening of Giving at 61 Simon malls nationally raised about $1.7 million. The mall's 2003 Evening of Giving raised about $16,000 that benefited 39 local charities.
