PENNSYLVANIA County fiscal administrator takes new job

MERCER, Pa. --Mercer County Fiscal Administrator Tresa Templeton has resigned to become business manager of the Sharon school district.
Mercer County commissioners accepted her resignation Thursday and said advertisements for a new director are running statewide.
Templeton, who has held the post since April 2002, starts her new job Monday. Although her official resignation date is July 16, she is already off the job because she is using accumulated vacation time.
She has agreed to work nights and weekends to keep the county fiscal office on track until her replacement is hired. Officials said she'll be paid $32.70 per hour, with no benefits, for the transitional work.
In other business, commissioners approved the county's new family leave policy. Although 12 weeks' family leave per year has been available to employees since passage of the federal Family Leave Act of 1993, the new policy clarifies details of how it is administered. Atty. Mark Longietti, commission solicitor, said, for example, the new policy limits to 12 weeks during any 12-month period the time that parents may take for birth, adoption, foster care, or parent illness if both parents work for the county. Other sections require employees to use all vacation and sick days first and to provide proof of a child's serious health condition.
