Organizers work out details for Hubbard Fun Fest 2004

HUBBARD -- Planning is complete for this weekend's Hubbard Fun Fest 2004.
"It seems like it's too good to be true. Everything is falling together," Mary Ann Lark, president of the Hubbard Area Chamber of Commerce, said Thursday.
The Saturday and Sunday affair is being sponsored by the chamber and Mayor Arthur U. Magee.
The chamber's annual pancake breakfast will be from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Harding Park. It includes a walk and 5K run at 8:30 a.m. at the park.
The actual festival at the city administration building gets under way at 1 p.m. Saturday with children's games, a coloring contest, raffles and team mud wrestling throughout the day.
Saturday includes a clown from 2 to 5 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be music, Irish dancers, square dancing and face painting.
The Hubbard Community Involvement Fund will host a parade at 6 p.m. Sunday.
The fest includes 45 vendors from the city and Hubbard Township.
"We're inviting everybody," Lark said, noting the weekend is designed for school groups and clubs to make some money.
The festival replaced the annual Hubbard Founders Day celebration that was canceled last year because of injuries suffered in a fireworks display.
Magee wanted the community to have a summer festival, complete with a new name, Lark said.
