MERCER COUNTY Judge sentences man for multiple burglaries
Another man was sentenced for tying up a juvenile.

MERCER, Pa. -- A Mercer man was sentenced to one to three years in prison for several area burglaries.
Nikolaus Beers, 24, formerly of Homes Street, Mercer, and now an inmate at the Lawrence County Jail, was sentenced Thursday by Judge Christopher St. John of Mercer County Common Pleas Court for the burglaries, which included: a January 2003 burglary at Tanfastic, 229 N. Perry Highway, Coolspring Township; a July 2003 burglary at The Gallery Store, 116 N. Pitt St., Mercer; a June 2003 burglary at Kargo Quality Cars and Trucks, Pa. Route 19, Mercer. He also took $705 from the Dairy Queen, 568 S. Erie St., Mercer, in June 2003.
Others were also sentenced Thursday.
Roderic Norris, 32, of Fruit Avenue, Farrell, was sentenced to six to 12 months in jail for felony criminal trespassing and three to 10 months for misdemeanor simple assault. He was given 94 days' credit for time served. Norris pleaded guilty to the offenses for threatening to kill a man and woman at the woman's Farrell home Jan. 1. According to court documents, he also struck the man in the face, causing bruises. He cut an outside phone line before entering the house through a basement window.
Stephen Zolnier, 19, of Wengler Avenue, Sharon, was ordered into the Intermediate Punishment Program for one year, fined $500, required to perform 50 hours' community service and ordered to serve five days in jail for false imprisonment, a misdemeanor. According to court documents, on Dec. 29, 2002, he and another defendant tied up a male juvenile at a Spruce Avenue, Sharon, address.
