Woman receives 3-year sentence
SHARON, Pa. -- A Pittsburgh woman involved with a Grove City area man in a child pornography case has been sentenced to three years in prison followed by one year of parole.
Sharon Dorsch, 42, was given the sentence in federal court in Pittsburgh last week on a guilty plea to a charge of misprision of a felony.
Misprision of a felony is the hiding of a crime by someone who knows it occurred but wasn't actually directly or indirectly involved in committing that crime.
Richard Carroll, 39, of Irish Town Road, Grove City, pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor in April and faces sentencing later this month.
A third defendant in the case, Gerald E. Goebert, 49, of Pittsburgh, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in March 2003 and was sentenced to time served and released in February.
Authorities said Carroll, identified as Dorsch's former boyfriend, sexually molested an 11-year-old girl and took pornographic photographs of the child between December 1999 and May 2000.
Dorsch knew about the abuse and the photographs, but told the child to do what Carroll told her to do, authorities said.
adding that Dorsch never notified authorities of the crime and later destroyed the pictures.
Goebert had copies of those photos on a computer in his home, authorities said.
