With Wharmby leading 3-1, Joe Irwin was hit by a pitch from Joe Onufrak to start the Falcons' winning rally. Wharmby then brought in Dustin Kulka to pitch. He struck out Dom Marchionda before hitting Jared Bartholomew and walking Dan Bertolini to load the bases.
Then Frank Turocy, who led the league in hitting at .550, singled to right field to drive in Irwin and cut the lead to 3-2, before Chad Baker cleared Bartholomew, Bertolini and Turocy from the bases with a double up the alley in right center to make it 5-3. A hard smash off the bat of Bill Christian past the third baseman plated Baker with the final run of the inning.
