MOUNTAINEER Austintown's Koval seeking 19th win



The Austintown boxer will be fighting for the 19th time in 18 months.
CHESTER, W.Va. -- Austintown heavyweight boxer Chris Koval has been added to tonight's seven-bout pro boxing card at Mountaineer Race Track and Gaming Resort,
Koval (18-1, 15 knockouts) will fight Carlos "Psycho" Bates (30-20, 14 knockouts) from Indianapolis in a six rounder.
This will be Koval's 19th fight in the 18 months since he's turned pro.
"This isn't a problem for me since I only took three days off after my fight June 27th at the Eastwood Expo Center," Koval said. "I have been running and in the gym with several days of sparring, so I am ready to go."
Pat Nelson, Koval's manager, said, "Bates is a hard-nosed trial horse who will give Chris a ring test."
Another Nelson boxer, undefeated heavyweight Brian Minto (16-0, 11 knockouts) from Butler, Pa., will be in a six-round fight against Kevin Tallon (10-16) from Elkhart, Ind.
McBride, Richardson billed
Davey McBride of Salem and Durrell Richardson of Youngstown will be in four-round bouts.
Richardson, trained by Jack Loew at the Southside Boxing Club, was a 2002 National Golden Gloves champion and is 3-0 with three knockouts since turning pro in April. He'll fight Matt Hill (5-20, four knockouts) from Baltimore.
McBride (4-2, two knockouts) will fight Margaro Senquiz (1-10) from Brooklyn, N.Y.
A pair of eight rounders are the co-features as Verquan Kimbrough (7-0, three knockouts) from Aliquippa, Pa., will battle Ubaldo "Razor" Olivencia (5-5-2) and Monty Meza-Clay (11-0 7 KOs) from Pittsburgh will fight James Merriweather (3-13) from Toledo.
Ticket prices are $60, $40 and $20.
