JESSICA CARPENTER
School/year: Champion, senior
Statistics/accomplishments: Second-team all-Ohio, first-team district and first team Trumbull Athletic Conference. Champion shared the TAC title with Hubbard and made its first trip to state in 10 years in the Division III playoffs.
Positive influence: My mom. She always practiced with me in the back yard when I was younger. And other than always wondering if I had enough water, I could really count on her as a quick pick-me-up when I wasn't playing so great.
Best memory: When our team was state-bound and our community got together and gave us a sendoff at the high school. The police even escorted our bus all the way to the highway.
Surprised to learn: I play guitar.
MAUREEN CEARFOSS
School/year: Ursuline, junior
Statistics/accomplishments: She compiled an earned-run average of 0.97 over 100 innings, compiling a 20-6 record. Her varsity record is 51-28. She was picked first team for the Steel Valley Conference, Northeast Ohio district and all-Ohio.
Positive influence: My grandmother for her strength after all her losses, determination to keep our large family together, and because she can really shake it!
Best memory: Our trip to a Toledo tournament and winning
the SVC.
Surprised to learn: I am a Harry Potter fan.
