Hubbard Twp. thefts prompt alert from cops
HUBBARD -- Township police are asking residents to watch for thieves breaking into garages and sheds.
Detective Mike Begeot said a pressure washer was stolen Tuesday morning from a home in the 1000 block of Cherry Lane on the township's North Side.
The residents told police they spotted a man wearing a ski mask and dark clothing walking down the road. They then noticed the pressure washer missing from the back porch.
Begeot said the washer and two weed trimmers were recovered from along the road. Also found was a pickup truck reported stolen in Coitsville. Its steering column and a window were broken.
How they operate
The detective said thieves are breaking into garages and sheds, putting the goods along the road and picking them up later with stolen vehicles.
This morning, police recovered a truck and its load of lumber in the ditch at Youngstown-Hubbard and Applegate roads in Liberty.
Begeot said a thief broke into the yard at the Babcock Lumber Co. on Mount Everett Road and drove the truck with its load through the fence.
Police asked that residents call 911 immediately if they see any suspicious activity.
