3-vehicle crash puts 7 people in the hospital
SHARON, Pa. -- A three-vehicle accident at Spencer Avenue and the Shenango Valley Freeway sent seven people to local hospitals.
Police said Brittany N. Newman, 20, of Parke Drive, Hermitage, was westbound on the freeway around 4 p.m. Tuesday and ran the red light at Spencer Avenue, striking the front of a vehicle driven by Sheila Cingolani, 57, of Pleasant Drive, Hermitage, which was southbound on Spencer.
The Newman vehicle then careened across the road and hit a vehicle operated by Stacy George, 27, of Grandview Avenue, Hubbard, which was stopped facing east on the freeway.
Police cited Newman for a red light violation.
She, her husband, William, 32, and daughter, Brooklyn, 1, were all treated at Sharon Regional Health System. Cingolani was treated at UPMC Horizon in Farrell. Erma Koch, 84, of Jefferson Avenue, a passenger in Cingolani's vehicle, was listed in stable condition today in UPMC Horizon.
Two other passengers in the Cingolani vehicle, Mary and Herman Pacsi, ages 80 and 82, respectively, were taken to Sharon Regional where Herman was treated and Mary was admitted in stable condition.
George wasn't injured, police said.
