CELEBRATIONS
XLe Cercle Francais will celebration Bastille Day with a picnic at 3 p.m. Saturday at the home of Jim and Robalee Dinopoulos, 7759 North Lima Road, Poland. The event is open to all those interested in French culture, heritage or language. Each family is asked to take a casserole to serve six to eight people. FESTIVALS
XHoly Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church, 626 Wick Ave., will hold a Romanian festival from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Games, vendors, a bake sale, music and church tours will be featured each day, and a dinner and dance will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday.
FUND-RAISERS
XBoardman-Poland Junior Women's League will sponsor a golf outing July 17 at Bedford Trails Golf Course. The four-person scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Players may register by sending $60 per person in checks payable to BPJWL, P.O. Box 3412, Boardman, Ohio 44513. The entry fee includes 18-hole greens fee with cart, breakfast, lunch and a steak dinner. A variety of prizes, raffles and Chinese auctions also will be held. XThe second annual Our Fallen Officers Memorial Run in honor of Michael Hartzell will be held Sunday. Registration of $10 per rider and $10 per passenger will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at Jackson Elementary School, 1813 Windsor Ave., Youngstown. Opening ceremonies will take place at 11:30 at Jolly Joe's, 3718 Sheridan Road, with bikes out at 11:50 traveling through Campbell, Struthers, Lowellville, Poland, Boardman, Canfield, Ellsworth, North Jackson and Austintown, concluding at the original starting point. Nonriders are also welcome from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Cost will include food, drawings, raffles, prizes and entertainment. Sponsoring the event along with Jolly Joe's is the Youngstown FOP Lodge 28.
XProtestant Family Service will sponsor a bowl-a-thon from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Amron Lanes, 492 W. Main St., Canfield, to raise funds for community service. Patrons can bowl three games for $10. There will be trophy prizes.
SPECIAL EVENTS
XA picnic is planned from noon to 7 p.m. July 11 at Campbell Community Center, Roosevelt Park, by Sons of Italy Campbell Lodge 2720. Tickets for adults are $10, and children under 12 are free. There will be lamb and chicken, and casseroles, desserts and beverages will be furnished by the committee. There will be a 50-50 raffle. SALES
XFirst United Methodist Church, 237 W. Silver St., Sharon, Pa., will hold a sidewalk sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 13 and from 9 a.m. to noon July 14 ($1 per bag day).
XNevels Temple Church of God in Christ will hold a trash and treasure sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 939 Elm St. Rental tables are available for $12. Food and baked goods will also be sold. For more information call Josephine Williams, (330) 782-3682.
