Police department plans golf outing

Proceeds will provide camp scholarships for children with cancer.
HOWLAND -- The Youngstown Police Department will hold an annual benefit golf tournament July 30 at Avalon South Golf Course.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society's camp scholarships for children with cancer.
The scholarships provide up to $500 per child and may be used for registration fees, facility fees, travel expenses or other camp-related expenses and supplies. The department raised more than $5,000 for the program last year.
The golf tournament is limited to 128 players, and will feature a lunch at 11:15 a.m. and a shotgun start at noon.
The entry fee is $70 per golfer, and includes greens fee, cart, skins, mulligans, beverages, dinner and prizes.
Golfers may enter as an individual or as two-person or four-person teams. Checks should be made payable to the YPD Golf Benefit, and mailed to Youngstown Police Dept., 116 W. Boardman St., Youngstown, Ohio 44503.
This year's tournament is being organized by members of the YPD, Laura Brown, Fred Losasso, John Patton and Tony Tulipano. For more information call the department at (330) 742-8718, or the cancer society at (330) 533-0546.
