Tri-T Colt (15-16)
Struthers Davidson Becker 8, Salem Parker Hunter 1 -- Jim Martricardi had two hits to lead the offense, while Randal Vecchio, Jim Ritter and Ryan Spatholt combined for the pitching victory. Greg Shade had a double for Salem while Andy Clutter piched well in relief.
Babe Ruth (ages 14-15)
Rondinelli 10, Belleria 2 -- Cory Collins had two home runs and five RBIs as Rondinelli out-hit Belleria, 13-5, to win the best-of-three series in two games. Tony Brunetti was the winning pitcher. Rondinelli scored 22 runs en route to its sweep.
Rondinelli Tuxedo 12, Belleria 0 -- Matt Katich fired a two-hitter and fanned eight in the opening playoff game. Cory Collins, Mike Hoelzel, Jesse Moses and Roberto Morales all had two hits with Collins, Hoelzel and Morales hitting doubles. Dane Dobson and Andy Kinter had Belleria's only hits.
Astro Falcons 2, Line Drive 1 -- Matt Pitzulo had a triple and double and finished with three hits including the game-winner in the game that tied the playoff series, 1-1. Steve Gruber pitched a four-hitter and struck out six over seven innings for the victory.
Line Drive 18, Astro Falcons 9 -- Line Drive scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a 9-all tie. The lead changed four times in the game. For Line Drive, Mike Popio scored three times, Anthony LaVolpa had four RBIs and Joe Koch, Jon Tatarka, Nathan Cope and Cameron Anderson each had two hits. For the Astros, Cameron Konop had two doubles and scored three times. Steve Gruver and Mike Kelly each had two hits.
Babe Ruth (age 13)
Rondinelli Tuxedo 7, Line Drive 2 -- Shawn Roman pitched a complete game to lead Rondinelli in Game 1 of the best-of-three playoff series. Vince Penza, Shawn Roman, John Simon and Anthony Franceschelli each collected two hits for Rondinelli. Kevin McCulloh had two hits for Line Drive.
SOFTBALL
Pony (14-under)
Boardman Diamond Steel 11, Boardman Spartan Chevy 7 -- Justine Cullen went 4-for-4 with two doubles and earned the mound win. Mimi Cecone, Katie Packo, Khala Walls and Anna Marie Calo each had two hits. For Spartan, Anne Jesko had three hits.
